More and more brands brands are building hampers curated with free-from components, that not only stand-out on their own, but create something truly special together. The taste, texture and overall quality of free-from treats has come leaps and bounds behind the scenes.

The best gluten-free hampers to buy in 2021
Paxton & Whitfield glorious gluten-free hamper, £60
The presentation of this chilled hamper offers a taste of the quality of ingredients it contains, with each element nestled within a functional branded wooden crate. At the centre you’ll find a 550g cloth-bound round of cheddar that’s been matured in Somerset caves, a creamy wax-coated smoked ceodre, the award-winning soft tunworth from Hampshire, and two accompaniments: a fruity white fig confit and subtle quince cheese.
Although savoury, the apricot cracker bakes are slightly sweet, with dates offering a chewiness to the crunch, while the cracked black pepper bakes are perfect for the cheddar. This is a hamper that will make any cheese lover happy, but particularly those that follow a gluten-free diet.
Available from Paxton & Whitfield (£60)
Harding Gomez Sweet Caroline hamper, £75
A new player in the hamper world, Harding Gomez has a vision to disrupt the norm with contemporary collections that scream colour, energy and quality. The Sweet Caroline hamper does just that and is well-presented. Its magnetic gift box is tied with a bright ribbon (of which four colours are available) and its contents nestled on wood-shaved curls. All the hamper packaging is plastic-free.
This is a great one for anyone with a sweet tooth, featuring fun snacks like Joe & Seph’s gourmet popcorn and raspberry marshmallows, wine selections (chosen by the brand’s sommelier-trained founder, Will) and sophisticated chocolate offerings. Both the Ocelot blood orange dark chocolate and Coco Chocolatier passion fruit bars are richly fruity, and the Booja champagne truffles are an indulgent stand-out.
The contents are plentiful, varied and most importantly, delicious. The price is more than justified for this gluten-free hamper. A vegan edition is also available.
Available from Harding Gomez (£75)
Hoppily gluten-free beer and brownie hamper, £26.50
Hoppily has teamed up with Leigh-on-Sea bakery, Bread & Stuff to offer a delicious concept; the gluten-free beer and brownie box. The double chocolate brownies are freshly baked and very generous in size, arriving with squidgy centres and that iconic cracked brownie top. You wouldn’t know they were gluten-free.
Then come the craft beers, four Hoppily favourites from around the UK. The stand-out was the full-bodied and slightly bitter Cereal Killa IPA (6.5%) by Brew York, but the cappuccino stout (5.5%) paired particularly well with the rich chocolate brownie. The Pils Lager by Elephant Brewing School and Panama Creature XPA by Hammerton Brewery were both light and refreshing.
Available from Hoppily (£26.50)
HoneyBuns book and cake bundle, £35
Established in 1998, Honeybuns bakery specialises in gluten-free bakes and has honed its recipes to also cover dairy-free, vegan and refined sugar-free options. For anyone who not only loves a sweet treat but also likes cooking and baking themselves, this hamper would make a great gift.
A Honeybuns tin containing eight individually wrapped cakes is accompanied by a hard-cover copy of Honeybuns’ second cookbook, The All Day Cook Book, packed with 100 gluten-free and vegetarian recipes, along with dairy-free and vegan options.
The stand-outs were the millionaire’s slice, with a unique chewy base instead of the traditional shortbread, along with a melt-in-the-mouth peanut blondie and a warming lemon and ginger shortbread slice, slightly aromatic and satisfyingly cakey. Except for the individually wrapped cake slices, the components arrive in plastic-free packaging, suitable for re-freezing.
Available from Honeybuns (£35)
Borough 22 doughnuts mini signature 24 box, £28-£34
When Ryan Panchoo’s family started suffering from symptoms of gluten and dairy intolerance in 2011, he set about perfecting a doughnut recipe that would fill the hole in multi-allergen friendly goodies.
His recipes are free from egg, dairy and gluten, along with being vegan-friendly. They have a light, cakey texture that although is different to the traditional deep-fried entity we know and love, carries the flavour.
This little box of four allows you to choose 24 mini morsels from six flavours to build a doughnut hamper; sugared, plain glazed, cinnamon, raspberry, cereal, cookie, s’mores, choc-hazelnut, jaffa, peanut butter and pumpkin spice. The cinnamon sugar doughnuts are particularly light.
Available from Borough 22 (£28-£34)
Borough Box gluten-free beer and snack gift box, £19.99
This box is excellent value at just under £20. Everything looks, feels and tastes high-quality. The contents feels curated as opposed to simply compiled, designed to compliment the favours with modern takes on traditional beer snacks.
The cured duck fritons by Made For Drink are intensely savoury, salty and melt-in-the-mouth, pairing well with the pod classic vanilla oatmeal stout by First Chop Brewery. Truffle popcorn is an inspired addition.
Available from Borough Box (£19.99)
Nutribox slim gluten-free snack hamper, £14

This health-focussed type of hamper can be a bit dull, but the selection has been curated to include snacks that are not only nutritional but innovative.
